    An animated GIF becomes a still JPG of its first frame. You’ll see a notice when the GIF is animated.

  • Accepted everywhere

    Some upload forms and apps reject GIF. JPG is accepted practically everywhere.

  • Colors stay as they are

    A GIF has at most 256 colors. Converting keeps the picture as it is; it can’t add colors or detail that aren’t there.

GIF to JPG FAQ

What happens to an animated GIF?

JPG can’t hold animation, so only the first frame is converted. The rest of the animation is not included.

What happens to transparent areas?

JPG has no transparency, so transparent pixels are filled with a background color. White is the default; you can choose any color. To keep transparency, use GIF to PNG.

Will the JPG look better than the GIF?

No. Converting can’t restore colors a GIF had to leave out. For graphics with flat colors, PNG usually looks cleaner than JPG.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser and the image stays on your device.
