When WebP to JPG helps

  • Maximum compatibility

Some older programs, printing services and upload forms still reject WebP. JPG is accepted practically everywhere.

  • Transparency handled

JPG can’t be transparent, so transparent areas are filled with the background color you choose instead of turning black.

  • You set the quality

Keep the default high quality for editing, or lower it for a smaller file.

WebP to JPG FAQ

Why can’t I open WebP files?

Most modern apps support WebP, but some older photo editors, office programs and websites don’t. Converting to JPG solves this.

What happens to transparent areas?

JPG has no transparency, so transparent pixels are filled with a background color. White is the default; you can choose any color before converting.

Will the JPG be larger than the WebP?

Often yes, because WebP compresses more efficiently than JPG. A larger file doesn’t mean better quality; it’s the same image in a less efficient format.

Can I convert animated WebP to JPG?

JPG can’t hold animation, so only the first frame is converted. We show a notice when an animated WebP is detected.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser and the image stays on your device.
