How to rotate an image

Why does my photo show up sideways?

Phones often save photos in one direction and store a rotation tag telling apps how to turn them. Some websites, forms and older programs ignore that tag. Rotating the image here turns the pixels themselves, so it looks right everywhere.

What is the difference between rotating and flipping?

Rotating turns the image around its center, like turning a printed photo on a table. Flipping mirrors it: left becomes right (horizontal) or top becomes bottom (vertical).

How do I fix a mirrored selfie?

Choose “Flip horizontal”. Text and details then read the right way round, as other people see them.

Does rotating reduce the quality?

PNG images stay lossless. JPG and WebP are saved once at high quality, which isn’t visible in normal use — and because every change is combined into a single step, clicking many times doesn’t add any loss.

Can I rotate by a custom angle, like 15°?

Not yet: this tool turns images in 90° steps and flips them. To straighten and trim a photo, crop it after rotating.

Is my image uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser, and the image never leaves your device.
