How to make a passport photo

  1. Choose a photo. Best results: facing the camera, even light, in front of a plain wall.
  2. Pick the size (for example 3.5 × 4.5 cm or 2 × 2 in) and move the frame so your face is centered with your shoulders visible.
  3. Choose a new background color if you need one, and adjust the background detection until the preview looks clean.
  4. Select “Create photo”, then download the photo or the 4R print sheet.

Print-ready without a studio

  • Exact size at 300 dpi

The photo has the right pixel size for 300 dpi and the DPI is written into the file, so it prints at exactly the chosen size.

  • Red, blue or white background

A plain wall behind you is replaced with the color you choose, with soft edges around hair and shoulders.

  • 4R print sheet

Several copies are arranged on one 4R (4 × 6 in) sheet with cut lines — print one ordinary photo and cut them out.

Processed locally — your images stay on your device.

Your face never leaves your device

An ID photo is personal data, so everything happens in your own browser. The photo is never uploaded to our server and is gone when you close the page.

Passport photo FAQ

How many pixels is a passport photo?

At 300 dpi, a 35 × 45 mm photo is 413 × 531 px, 2 × 2 in is 600 × 600 px and 3 × 4 cm is 354 × 472 px. The tool creates these sizes for you.

Will my photo be accepted for a passport or visa?

We make the size and background you choose, but offices also have rules on head size, expression, glasses and lighting. Check the official requirements; many offices also take the photo themselves.

How do I get a clean background?

Stand in front of a plain wall or sheet with even light, and avoid clothes the same color as the wall. If bits of the old background remain, raise “Background detection”; if the new color reaches your hair or clothes, lower it.

How do I print the photos myself?

Download the print sheet and print it as a 4R (4 × 6 in, 10 × 15 cm) photo at actual size / 100 %, not “fit to page”. Then cut along the thin lines.

The online form has a file size limit. What now?

The photo is usually small already. If not, use Compress to Size with the limit from the form.

My iPhone photo won’t open?

iPhones save photos as HEIC. Convert it first with HEIC to JPG, then open the result here.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Cropping, background replacement and the print sheet are all created in your browser.
