How to watermark an image

  1. Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image, drag it here, or paste it from your clipboard.
  2. Pick Text and type your watermark, or pick Logo and choose your logo image.
  3. Set the size, opacity and position, or turn on “Repeat across the whole image”. The preview updates as you go.

A watermark that fits your photo

  • Text or logo

    Use a line of text such as “© Your name” in any color, or your own logo. Transparent PNG logos keep their transparency.

  • Corner or full coverage

    Place one watermark at any of nine positions, or repeat it diagonally over the whole photo so it is hard to crop out.

  • What you see is what you get

    Sizes are relative to the image, so the watermark in the preview is exactly where it will be in the full-size file.

How do I add a watermark to a photo?

Open the photo here, type your text (or choose a logo), adjust the size, opacity and position in the preview, then select “Add watermark” and download the result.

Can I use my logo as a watermark?

Yes. Choose Logo and select a PNG, WebP or JPG file. A PNG or WebP with a transparent background looks best, because only the logo itself appears on the photo.

Which position and opacity should I use?

For photos you sell or want credit for, a corner watermark at 50–70% opacity is visible without spoiling the picture. To make copying harder, repeat the watermark across the image at a lower opacity, around 25–40%.

Can someone remove a watermark?

A small watermark in a corner can be cropped out, and editing tools can paint over marks on simple backgrounds. A larger or repeated watermark across the image is much harder to remove. No watermark gives complete protection.

Does adding a watermark reduce the quality?

PNG images stay lossless. JPG and WebP are saved once at high quality, so the difference isn’t visible. The width and height stay the same.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The watermark is drawn by your browser on your device, and neither the photo nor the logo is sent to our server.
